{Who} Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy
{Where} home
{When} June 5th
{Why} It's Draco's birthday

Harry was pleased with himself. There were two years worth of gifts on Draco's bed, including one that Harry didn't know if the blond would use anytime soon - a brand new broom. He placed the flowers - white lillies - on top of the presents.

Then he went to the living room and waited for Draco.

Draco stepped out of the bathroom, freshly showered and in clean clothes, wondering why Harry's apartment was so quiet. Stepping into his room, he stopped dead at the site that greeted him. Flowers and presents adorned his bed. What is all this?

"Harry!" called Draco. "Harry, get in here!"

Harry bit his lip and walked over to Draco's bedroom. "Yes, birthday boy? What can I do for you?" he asked with a smile.

The blonde blinked at Harry owlishly. "How did you know it was my birthday?" he asked baffled.

Harry leaned against the doorframe, smiling. "Come on, we were together for a long time... Did you really expect me not to know my boyfriend's birthday?" He shrugged and looked at the presents. "I wouldn't forget it just because we were no longer... together."
Jun. 15th, 2007 09:53 pm (UTC)
Draco eyed the presents warily. "You really shouldn't have Potter," he replied a little forced. Why is he making this so hard? Draco silently groaned.

Harry shrugged, a little sad smile on his face. "It's nothing. You deserve it all and more." Stop it, Harry said to himself fiercely. It's like you enjoy getting hurt... Shaking his head at himself, he continued, the same smile still on. "I hope you like those. They are last year's and this year's presents - though I really didn't know what to buy now..." He glanced at Draco, and chuckled. "I think I'll let you open them now... D'you want me to leave?" Harry asked seriously, biting his lip.

Draco sighed in defeat and slowly opened the gifts. A broom; a few new robes; a black hoody with an emblazoned silver dragon on the front; a silver practice snitch; a photo of them taken when Draco was still in Hogwarts and life hadn't gone completely pear shaped for the blonde; had all been carefully wrapped by Harry and now reluctantly unwrapped by Draco.

Of course part of his collection of gifts, Draco couldn't use anymore. He lacked a wand and left school before he could ever learn wandless magic properly. The rest...

He was reluctant to wear then, to even touch them. Harry had put a lot of thought into the gifts and they obviously meant the brunette still had strong feelings for the blonde. I'll hurt him, Draco thought quietly to himself, tracing the frame of the picture with his hand. Well worse than I probably already am. And he'll equally hurt me, he added as an after thought.

"Thanks Potter," he finally said out loud, then added playfully. "Gee, and I didn't get anything for you."
Jun. 17th, 2007 11:21 am (UTC)
"You like it?" Harry smiled widely, eyes twinkling. "Well, I know this will sound sappy, but... you've already given me the biggest present - I didn't think I'd ever see you again... And, hey, it's not even my birthday yet!" He exclaimed, winking at Draco.

Stepping closer, Harry swallowed his hesitancy and before he changed his mind wrapped his arms around his former lover. "Happy birthday, Draco," he whispered, smiling, as he released the blond.
Jun. 18th, 2007 10:18 pm (UTC)
The blonde tensed as the brunette wrapped his arms around him and hugged him. Quickly, he stood and put the items carefully on the dresser. "You know I can't use most of this stuff, I don't have a wand anymore," he replied caustically.
Jun. 18th, 2007 10:34 pm (UTC)
Harry's smile wavered as Draco moved away from him. He gazed at the photo he had given the blond, watching the laughing, happy, and very much in love teenagers. Vaguely he wondered what had happened to them. And why he felt so much older than eighteen.

Then he frowned as he heard Draco's words. "Why? What happened to it?" The brunette asked quietly.
Jun. 19th, 2007 10:49 pm (UTC)
"I got rid of it when I met Perry and them," Draco lied. In truth, he had hid his wand in the neck of Perry's guitar. "Couldn't have Death Eaters or Ministry Officials track me down with it, could I?"
Jun. 19th, 2007 11:08 pm (UTC)
Harry bit his lip. "I guess..." Then he cocked his head. "Who's Perry? One of the muggles you met?"
Jun. 21st, 2007 02:59 am (UTC)
"He's the lead singer of the band I was hanging with," Draco replied. "They practically adopted me, though they didn't have to." Thinking about the guys made him a little sad and slightly homesick. They had become family to him, in the last years and half.
Jun. 21st, 2007 05:31 pm (UTC)
"Do they know you're here?" Harry asked, curious. They sure mean a lot to him, he thought bitterly, before rethinking this thought. What am I saying? They are his friends... He shook his head and tried to ignore the jealousy he was feeling.
Jun. 21st, 2007 11:00 pm (UTC)
"Yes and no," Draco replied hesitantly. "They know I'm somewhere in London. Not really the rest, or the magic part. Haven't gotten around to tell them that part yet."
Jun. 22nd, 2007 06:08 am (UTC)
[omg, sorry!]
Harry hummed. "Well, I think you should meet them. After all, they are your friends, and they must be worried about you..." he said. "And I'd really like to hear you explain magic to them!"
Jun. 22nd, 2007 03:43 pm (UTC)
Draco blinked at Harry and shook his head. "Yeah, like I'm going do that," he said. "But they are worried. Perry keeps texting me and wanting to know when we can meet."
Jun. 22nd, 2007 05:51 pm (UTC)
[lol, nevermind^^]
Harry grinned. "I was joking," he said, winking at him. "But really, why don't you invite them over? Like I said before, this is muggle London."
Jun. 25th, 2007 05:18 am (UTC)
"Maybe," Draco murmured softly. If he was honest with himself, he didn't really want his two lives mixing. He was more than happy to be keep them separate and safe. Draco and Luke were two entirely different people; their lives to disjointed to be whole.

"So where's Granger and the Weasel?" Draco asked suddenly. "Shouldn't you be off somewhere with them, fighting the good fight?"
Jun. 25th, 2007 09:27 am (UTC)
Harry sighed. "As a matter of fact, I don't know... I haven't talked to them in a long time," he said with a sheepish smile. "I wasn't joking when I said I'd been neglecting my friends."

"And yes, I guess I should be "fighting the good fight", but since no one tells me anything anymore, and the only stuff I get to know comes from the Prophet."
Jun. 26th, 2007 03:03 am (UTC)
Draco blinked at Potter in disbelief, "We have a mad man running around terrorizing all of human kind and then some, and our so called hero isn't even kept in the loop?" Well bloody hell! he thought angrily. "Is there anything you do do Potter?"
Jun. 26th, 2007 09:32 pm (UTC)
Harry's nostrils flared in anger. "In fact, there is. I report to the Order every single vision I have, and they have stopped quite a few attacks on both Muggles and Wizards. I pester them - especially Dumbledore - for information every week, and my request is denied because, apparently, I am a danger; I can't know anything because old Voldie may enter my head and find out about those things - never mind the fact that it hasn't happened in a long time," he ranted, face flushed.

"And they tell me, 'go on with your life, and leave these things to older, more experienced people. Go play Quidditch, and when we need you, we'll call you,' they say." He shook his head. "They didn't even accept me in Auror training. I'd quit my position at the Cannons; but noooo, Dumbledore ordered them not to accept me. He wanted me to - I don't know, lock myself in Grimmauld Place and train, probably," he said quietly, eyes still bright. He sighed, feeling drained. "It's not my fault," Harry whispered, running his fingers through his hair.
Jun. 26th, 2007 09:51 pm (UTC)
Guilt, horrible and fierce, rolled through his gut. He opened his mouth to apologize, only to close it and stare at the brunette sadly.

"You could always do something to prove to them they need you," he offered quietly. "Maybe once they realize how important you really are..." He left the last part hanging in the air. No, they would probably think Harry more rash and more a liability than the 'The Chosen One' he really was.
Jun. 26th, 2007 10:29 pm (UTC)
Harry couldn't help the laugh that escaped him, even though he was not amused - not in a good way, at least. "Oh, but they know how important I am, Draco. Dumbledore tells everyone of my importance to the cause every time the Order meets - or so Remus tells me. But that importance...," he scoffed, shaking his head. "I'm needed for the final battle, since I'm the only one who can kill Voldemort. That's the only use they have for me."

Harry pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes. "And I'm the face of the fight against Voldemort." Swallowing the lump on his throat, he sat on an armchair close by. "Other than that, I'm just a rash kid, who just got out of school and doesn't know a thing about life."
